The First Commandment focuses upon the "Who" of worship. The Second Commandment focuses upon the "How" of worship. The First Commandment focuses upon the "holiness" of God — there is no other. The Second Commandment focuses upon the "jealousy" of God — His rightful protection of how He is to be approached in worship. It is a call for true worship in a world of substitutes.
